This has probably got to be one of the funniest statements I’ve heard in 30 years while working/training with dogs.
I promise I didn’t laugh….well, only the tiniest of ones if I did.
This incident all unfolded while we were holidaying in Cornwall recently . Innocently sat having our evening meal in the dog friendly cafe. Elderly placid Springer Spaniel on one side, 16 week old feisty Jack Russell on the other.
Whoops….the owner of the Jack Russell drops a morsel of food on the floor .
English Springer Spaniel thinks …yum yum, and off she trots to clear up the scraps of food. Only to be met with a scream and a shout from little Miss Jack Russell.
Scared us all to death, including Miss Springer spaniel who retreated back underneath her owners bench, looking very hurt and rejected.
Everyone was very concerned about what had just happened. Only to be told by the 16 week old Jack Russell owner……as she scoops up her puppy under her arm and heads for the door…’ It’s all ok, she’s only 16 weeks old and doesn’t know what she’s doing’.!!!
Ok….time to drop the ‘bomb shell’.
Unfortunately or fortunately, which ever way you want to look at the situation.
The 16 week old Jack Russell, will know exactly what she’s doing, and was displaying very early assertive behaviour.
You can never start a good training class too early and hopefully Little Miss Jack Russell is on the waiting list to start!!
