Buddy is a 2 year old Collie/Labrador and his owner Helen adopted him from a rescue centre about 6 months ago. All seemed perfectly fine to start with and Buddy fitted in beautifully but suddenly Buddy seemed to be getting himself into situation when they went out walking. Helen noticed that Buddy seemed to be seeing off other dogs and getting growly, as well as confrontational. And it was at this stage that Helen contacted me to see if I could help them and get to the root of the problem.
Helen brought Buddy out to my home where we introduced him to a variety of dogs one at a time so we could really have an in depth look at the way Buddy meets and greets new dogs as well as looking closely at his character.
We discussed and practised a new plan that didn’t mean Buddy staying on a lead when out walking because this dog just loved playing and running, draining his battery was very important in his daily routine.
Helen rang me a couple of weeks later and this is what she had to say:
Buddy is so much better, he doesn’t bolt off anymore, in fact he likes to stay with you, I am ever so pleased.
