We are being told that up to 5 dogs a day are stolen from homes/ gardens or outside of shops and school gates, in the UK a day!!!
But still it seems dog owners are quite content with leaving their dogs tied up outside of shops ,or leaving them in their gardens ,when going off to work .
Only recently did I spot a dog tied up outside my local supermarket. As I walked past this lovely , friendly Labrador , his lead just loosely tied over a post.
It would have taken just seconds to feed this dog with a treat , to win him over and walk away with him.
The shocking facts are that 80% of stolen dogs are never reunited with their owners .
They are either sold on or dare I mention….used as bait dogs in this ever increasing cruel pastime .
It’s just not worth it…don’t leave your dog unattended. As long as your dog has had an adequate walk before rushing out the door of your house , leave them at home where they are safe under lock and key.
If your dog doesn’t like being left on his own, possibly he or she has a separation anxiety problem. And any experienced/ qualified Behaviourist would be able to help you with this.
Of course there is nothing better than taking your dog out and about with you, when you are out, but leaving them tied up outside of a building ….never.
