With Spring upon us, comes warmer weather and longer days. Giving us the opportunity to have more time to walk our dogs in daylight hours.
Walking your dog should be a relaxing, pleasurable experience for you and your dog and is a daily requirement for your dog in order to keep him or her happy and fulfilled.
But how does this work if you have a re-active dog?
As we have all noticed our parks, beaches and favourite countryside walks are becoming busier and busier with an increase in dog ownership, after all 31% of all UK households own a dog now.
So that ‘quiet, off the beaten track’ walk away from other dogs no longer exist anymore.
Yes, we have secure fields to hire for an hour or so, but in some areas these can be hard to find or even harder to hire.
So, where does this leave us?
Training!!! Never too old or too late and should never be overlooked as to the importance of it.
Take the plunge and source a reputable/ experienced behaviourist who can work with you and your dog.
Getting to the ‘root‘ of your dogs reactivity and teaching you how to overcome these struggles.
Statistics show that in the summer months more dog on dog incidents occur.
So, let’s get our pooches under control and be responsible dog owners.
A trained dog is a happy dog and . . . a happy dog is a happy owner!!
